We got frustrated trying to understand the Shared Equity Scheme using government PDFs and a spreadsheet. So we built the tool we wished existed.
In 2023, trying to figure out whether the Queensland Shared Equity Scheme actually made sense for our budget, we built a spreadsheet. It had 14 tabs, nested formulas, and still couldn't tell us what we owed the government in year 10.
We started talking to other first home buyers and heard the same story over and over. The scheme is genuinely useful — it lets people who couldn't otherwise afford a deposit get into the market. But it's complex, and the complexity was stopping people from using it confidently.
"We wanted a tool that told you the full cost, the 30-year picture, and the break-even point — all from one place."
So we built EquitySight. It started as an internal tool, went through dozens of iterations shaped by feedback from real buyers, and is now available to anyone navigating the path to homeownership in Australia.
We're a small team — we answer support tickets ourselves, we ship updates based on real feature requests, and we care deeply about making this genuinely useful. Not startup-speak useful. Actually useful.
Property finance doesn't need to be opaque. Every number we show you has a reason, and every calculation is explainable in plain English.
We're a calculator, not a financial adviser. We're explicit about what our tool can and can't tell you — and we'll always point you to a licensed professional for the big decisions.
Everything we build is shaped by real buyers in the middle of real decisions. We don't ship features we haven't tested with people actually buying property.
We don't sell your data. We don't share your scenarios with third parties. What you model is private, full stop.
We release updates every week. Most features were requested by users. We read every support email and reply within 24 hours.
We're built specifically for the Australian market — state-by-state scheme rules, LMI calculations, stamp duty by state, and suburb growth data from Australian sources.
We're a lean team of builders who have all been through the first-home-buyer experience firsthand.
